Underground and Aboveground Storage Tanks

Underground storage tanks (USTs) have always posed an environmental risk because of their potential to leak, be overfilled, or have faulty equipment. In 1984, the US EPA responded to the increasing risk leaking underground storage tanks posed on soil and groundwater, by enacting a comprehensive regulatory program. These regulations, part of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) required owners or operators of underground storage tanks to be responsible for preventing, detecting and cleaning up releases. The US EPA has allowed states to implement and enforce UST regulations that either meet or exceed the US EPA regulations.

Aires offers a complete range of services to underground storage tank owners and operators nationwide, these include:

Aires' staff of engineers, geologists and professionals has a vast understanding of all federal and state regulations pertaining to underground storage tanks. We will ensure that each site remains in compliance with the appropriate regulatory agency through each phase of the project. Because of our regulatory knowledge, we are able to provide our clients with alternative and cost-effective methods to meet regulatory cleanup objectives.

Most states also provide financial assistance to tank owners or operators to assist in the cleanup of a leaking underground storage tank. Our knowledge of regulatory guidelines allows us to assess whether or not a tank owner or operator qualifies for financial assistance and we can assist in the submitting of the financial paperwork on behalf of the client to ensure maximum reimbursement.

Aires recognizes that each tank location is unique in its location and extent of contamination. Aires has the experience and expertise to assess the situation and provide several options of remediation to the client. These options will be able to provide the client with a cost-effective solution while maintaining and securing the environment and human health.
