AsbestosAsbestos is not always an immediate hazard. In fact, provided the asbestos is maintained in good condition it is recommended that it be left alone with periodic surveillance to monitor its condition. Asbestos containing materials (ACM) are only hazardous when they are disturbed or the materials become damaged. Aires' offers Asbestos Services in the following areas:
Schools face significant asbestos exposure through asbestos-containing materials such as floor tiles and adhesives, thermal insulation, ceiling tiles, surfacing materials, and lab countertops (Transite). These could pose an immediate risk for the students and faculty should they be disturbed. Due to this potential risk of asbestos exposure, the State Departments of Public Health (IDPH) require schools to designate a person to maintain the schools Asbestos Management Plan (AMP). |
